How does one get prepared for the untoward incident of disaster, crisis and business or service disruption? It is inevitable that each of us will be affected by a crisis at one time or another. Virtually no organization - irrespective of its size, nature of business or location - is immune from a crisis situation. Emergencies can arise at any time and from many causes. Crisis management is a relatively new field of management. Typically, proactive crisis management activities include forecasting potential crises and planning how to deal with them. Hopefully, organizations have time and resources to complete a crisis management plan before they experience a crisis. Crisis management in the face of a current, real crisis includes identifying the real nature of a current crisis, intervening to minimize damage and recovering from the crisis.
