In the corporate world, an organizational as well as individual’s success depends a lot on recognizing the close link between professional expertise and professional image. Very often, in focusing on employees’ skills and knowledge in the business, organizations either fail to acknowledge or ignore the importance of professional image, which in turn includes knowledge and skills in various business protocols or etiquettes. Best practices in business protocols include, but are not limited to, skills in verbal and non-verbal communications, making professional and culturally appropriate introductions, grooming and “casual dress” rules, receiving and entertaining guests, workplace behavior, gender issues in the workplace, business meeting and dining etiquette, business letter and email etiquette, and so on. This proposal and the following course modules are for a two-day workshop/course focusing on business communication skills and etiquette. This proposal is recommended for a group of 10- 20 participants to ensure effectiveness. The course is divided into 3 modules: Understanding and Setting the Tone in Business Communication; Etiquette Rules in Business communication; and Best Practices in Customer Service (Parts 1 and 2)
